Closing In - Prayer

God is not really elusive at all. We act as though we cannot draw close mostly, I think, to excuse our lack of interest and effort at drawing close. But it is really available to us all. Set aside arrogance and ignorance and:

Pray - God is our 'ever-present companion'. Act like it. Talk with the Lord about everything you see, are confused by, are hurt by, are delighted in. The Lord is right with you and sees it all - why ignore Him?

Grow in your prayer life - start listening for God to talk with you. If it wasn't available, then scripture would not repeatedly teach about God's INTENSE desire for that relationship & communication with us. That's God's desire - not just ours.

We don't even have to use words. It is hard to articulate the true condition of our spirits. God already knows all that is inside of you, so do not worry about how you say it, simply bring it to God. The most honest expression of grief is wailing and gnashing of teeth, of joy, laughter. Share it all with God. We REALLY can't fool Him anyway or impress Him with our insight or vocabulary.

Be open to the Spirit leading your communication with God. Eventually, as we are able to pray openly and without inhibition (and that is key), the Spirit will lead us into new ways of prayer: intercession, healing, overcoming evil, speaking the mysteries of the Spirit. It is not weird, it is God using us in the natural to affect the spiritual through our role as His person. Eventually even prayer is less about us, and more about being God's tool. That is the goal for those that follow God. Be open to God's use.
